The Award Winning Northumbria Sport Student Development Programme offers Northumbria students the opportunity to get the most out of your student experience; make a statement to employers that you have more than just a degree; and try new things that will challenge you and enhance your development.

We provide paid internship opportunities in many different areas including marketing & events, media, performance analysis, coaching and strength & conditioning. We also provide volunteer positions in all these areas and more including working with NGB's; community clubs and schools; or gaining experience as a volunteer at the Newcastle United Foundation! Being part of our internship and volunteer programme means that you are fully supported by us! We assign you to a Host, who is a professional in the area, and you receive Northumbria Sport kit to be worn as uniform. You also have the opportunity to apply for funding towards CPD and log your hours online (the internship programme is a minimum comittment of 120 hours across the academic year and the volunteer programme is a minimum of 30 hours) as we add these to your University HEAR transcript to make sure you are recognised for your work.

Alongside these two exciting programmes; throughout the year we advertise volunteering and training opportunities that you can become involved in. Many of our volunteers from last year commented that these opportunities were 'great ways to meet new people,' 'try something completely different,' 'network,' 'develop new skills,' and most of all 'be challenged and have fun!' Here's some events that we supported: the Rugby League Magic Weekend; BUCS Nationals, BUCS Big Wednesday, the Great North Run and the Great British Team Gym Championships!

There are so many ways you can be involved, and don't hesitate to contact us for more information.
